ABOUT THIS EVENT

You can look forward to an epic night with The Discarded and Night Finger, both skilled in the art of rock 'n' roll. Pulling from shared influences of garage, psyche, 70s rock, punk, new wave, bubble gum and just good old Chuck Berry riffing, these two bands will renew your faith that new, exciting and vital rock 'n' roll is still being played in Toronto. The moon is full, so get your summer solstice on and kick out the jams.

About the bands

THE DISCARDED hail from Orangeville, a small town just north of Toronto. They are comprised of drummer Caden Jax Wasson, his brother Jared Dean Wasson on bass and father, veteran rocker, J.P. (Joel) Wasson on guitar and vocals. Throughout the 90s, JP played in such seminal bands as Fifth Column (drums) and Snowdogs (drums and lead vocals).

The Discarded might all be related, but their sound will quickly tell you that this is no Partridge Family reunion. The two brothers started playing in the band when they were just 13 and 17 years old.  The ensuing years, countless rehearsals and live shows have seen the band develop into a tight hard rocking unit, that thrives on the creation of original, creative, well-crafted music.

Since their formation in February 2016, The Discarded has recorded and released five albums and one EP, with an already completed sixth full-length album slated for release in September 2024. They’ve played close to 100 live shows, several southern Ontario tours and have opened for The Sonics at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall, Teenage Head and The Forgotten Rebels in Hamilton. They’ve also supported Lowest of the Low on tour and opened for Rusty’s 2019 album release. Their albums have received airplay on college and online radio.

Earlier this year, The Discarded released a free download of their November 2023 live set in Hamilton entitled, “Hey, can I have his hat?” available only online through Bandcamp. The Discarded are always busy writing new music, planning their next recording and incorporating their rock influences into their sound. This sees classic seventies rock, punk, garage as well as power pop and bubble gum shaping their sound. This past year has seen them add a second guitar player to the fold, Ben Keegstra, to bolster the live sound to match their recordings.

NIGHT FINGER - the fiery echo of the distant fuzzed-out sounds of yesteryear. Blues, garage and psych all get bundled up into a dual guitar boogie fest. Past, present and future all collide in an irresistible rock machine built from Shikasta, Sinisters and Leather Uppers members. Formed at the dawn of the pandemic, these Toronto party kings have shared the stage with such guitar monsters as The Schizophonics, The Dictators, The Forgotten Rebels, Electric 6 as well as headlining their own heavy duty fuzz dance-a-thons. The debut Night Finger EP Code Red as well their "Pain" single, both released in 2023, connect the dots between hard rock, psych-garage, soul and Stax-style dance songs. With a great new batch of original tracks ready for release in 2024, the incendiary device known as Night Finger are set to explode.

Get with it, get down and get on with it!
